OK, Vampires are fledglings until they turn 20, then they become adult vampires and stop aging. Its just easier that way.

You can't study elements that conflict with each other!! For example: Fire/Water, Fire/Flora, Water/Lightning, Fire/Ice, Metal/Earth, Metal/Flora, etc.
Fire - Like water and wind, Fire is another element that is hard to manipulate, but it is easy once you get the hang of it and the fastest element to learn. You need a fair amount of concentration and patience and you need to keep level-headed while practicing or it will cause dangerous results. Though it is the easiest and simplist of elements, it is also the most destructive. [Weekness: Water, Earth, Ice]
Water - Similar to the wind, the water is another difficult element to manipulate. It cannot be controlled, only manipulated to flow according to your will and only to an extent until it rejects you (like the wind) and turns on you. If you are not careful with this element, it can cause as great of destruction as fire and lightning. [Weakness: Lightning, Metal, Earth]
Earth - Earth, like metal, is a strong and fortified element that can withstand almost any attack. Earth is a great defense and can be a powerful offense, though it takes a lot of time and patience to have full control over it. [Weakness: Metal and Flora]
Metal - The element of metal is the strongest element when it comes to defense and it can be deadly in offense if used the right way. Metal can be liquid or solid and you can change its shape into any convenient object that you can think of. This element takes much longer time to learn, though, so patience is a must when learning how to control it. [Weakness: Fire and Darkness]
Ice - The element of ice is easier to control if you've gone through a lot of hardships in your life. Usually, people who have worked with the ice element long enough tend to prefer colder climates and are slightly cold to the touch. Ice is a very powerful element when used correctly, it can freeze just about everything besides darkness, light, and fire. The ice element is quite difficult to control for witches who are more light-hearted and carefree, but it is possible to learn. Though, ice is more attracted to the sorrows of humans than their joys. [Weakness: Fire, Earth, Light]
Wind - The wind element is one of the hardest to manipulate since it almost has a mind of its own. You cannot "control" the wind, but you can work with it and manipulate it to a point. [Weakness: Earth, Metal, Lightning]
Lightning - Another difficult element to manipulate, lightning is destructive and probably the most powerful element of all (besides light and darkness). You must have a lot of control and patience in order to be able to manipulate this element. [Weakness: Earth, Metal, Darkness]
Flora - Flora is a gentle element. It can be learned to help with making potions and cures, but it can also be destructive in nature too. You can grow a tree strong enough to crush stones with its powerful roots or you can bring life back to a destroyed forest. [Weakness: Fire, Ice, Metal, Darkness]
Light - The light element is most commonly known for healing and banishing the darkness, but there are more things to learn about the light than you might have thought. Such things are powerful barriers that can repel anything (though they do not last long) and you can even heal a dying person with enough will and power. It is just as powerful as darkness and can cut through it, but it is also weak to an attack that only the most powerful witches know. [Weakness: Darkness]
Darkness - The element of darkness is the most mysterious and unknown of all, but upon gaining a good enough control over it, you can do many things. Teleportation through shadows, invisibility, and powerful forcefields are only some of the abilities that can be obtained through the darkness, even the ability to change and manipulate other elements. [Weaknesses: Light]
